Birth Preparation
Understanding Birth. Understanding Your Choices.
Birth is one of the most significant experiences of a woman's life, yet many women approach it feeling overwhelmed by information, uncertainty and conflicting advice.
My Birth Preparation sessions are designed to help you feel informed, confident and better prepared for the journey ahead.
This isn't about creating the perfect birth.
It's about understanding how birth works, exploring your options and helping you make decisions that feel right for you and your family.
As an experienced midwife, I offer honest, evidence-informed conversations about birth, helping you navigate the maternity system and understand the choices available to you.
Together we can explore:
Labour and birth physiology
Birth planning and preferences
Induction of labour
Pain relief options
Caesarean birth
Informed decision-making
Birth partner preparation
Previous birth experiences and their impact
Building confidence and reducing fear
Every session is tailored to you. Whether you're planning your first birth, preparing after a previous difficult experience or simply looking for balanced information and support, these sessions provide a space to ask questions, explore concerns and prepare in a way that feels meaningful to you.
Because preparation is not about controlling birth.
It's about feeling informed enough to meet it.

When Birth Plans Change
A specialist session for women navigating unexpected changes in late pregnancy.
Has your pregnancy suddenly taken an unexpected turn?
Perhaps you've recently been told:
• We recommend an induction.
• Your baby is measuring large for gestational age.
• You have gestational diabetes.
• You have pre-eclampsia or high blood pressure.
• Your baby is breech.
• There are concerns about your baby's growth or wellbeing.
• A caesarean may now be the safest option.
It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed when the birth you had imagined suddenly starts to look different.
This session is designed to help you slow everything down.
Not to tell you what decision to make.
Not to persuade you one way or another.
But to help you understand your options, explore the evidence, ask informed questions and reconnect with what matters most to you.
Together we can explore:
• What your diagnosis or recommendation means.
• Why your maternity team may be recommending induction or caesarean birth.
• The benefits, risks and alternatives.
• What choices remain available to you.
• How to prepare emotionally and practically for different birth pathways.
• Ways to maintain calm, confidence and connection, whatever your birth looks like.
Birth preparation is not about creating the "perfect" birth.
It is about understanding your choices, preparing for different possibilities and feeling more at home wherever your birth unfolds.
