Let’s Talk About Birth is a growing collection of women’s voices, stories and lived experiences of pregnancy, birth and what comes afterwards.

Because women have always learnt from other women.

And somewhere along the way, birth became something we were increasingly told about rather than something we talked about with each other.

Let’s change that.

Every Birth Has a Story

Home birth. Hospital birth. Caesarean birth. Induction. Water birth. Epidural. No pain relief.

Beautiful. Brutal. Empowering. Frightening. Completely different from anything you imagined.

There is no type of birth I am looking for.

There is no “right” story to tell.

I am interested in the reality of birth and the woman inside it.

The decisions you made. The moments you remember. The things that mattered. The things you understand differently now.

Your story does not need to be extraordinary to be worth hearing.

It just needs to be yours.

Birth is deeply personal, but it does not happen in a vacuum.

How we understand birth is shaped by medicine, culture, family, fear, policy, social media and the stories we hear from other people.

Women's lived experiences deserve a place within that conversation.

Not because every woman will make the same choices.

Exactly the opposite.

The more honestly we talk about birth, the more we understand just how varied it can be.

And perhaps the better prepared we become to ask questions, know our options, trust ourselves and recognise that our experience matters too.

Gathering Voices began with a simple idea: what happens when we create space for women to speak, and really listen?

It has grown into the heart of Let’s Talk About Birth.

Some contributions are longer conversations. Others might be one question, one thought or one piece of wisdom captured in a few minutes.

Together they create something bigger.

A living collection of what women know about birth because they have actually lived it.

Not statistics.

Not policies.

Not somebody else's interpretation of women's experiences.

Our own words. Our own voices. Our own stories.

You do not need a dramatic story, to be good on camera, and you definitely do not need to know the “right” thing to say.

You might share your whole birth story or answer one question.

You might have one sentence you desperately wish somebody had said to you before you gave birth.

That is enough.
